Winning Eleven dated in Europe

Just as countries are divided in calling the world's most popular sport "soccer" or "football," gaming fans of the sport are divided on their preference of footie franchises. Electronic Arts' FIFA series and Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer (also known as Winning Eleven) series have gone toe-to-toe with fans, and they look to do so again this year. Not so coincidentally, on the same day some editions of FIFA 07 were released in Europe, Konami wanted gamers in the region to know when its soccer game would be available. The company announced that Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and PC would be available on October 27. PSP and Nintendo DS editions are expected to be released "shortly after." Though EA has a head start on Konami in Europe on current-gen systems, the next-gen battle will begin on the same day, as FIFA 07 for the Xbox 360 is also scheduled for release on October 27. Konami's Web site still lists Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007 (Pro Evo 6's name in the US) as being available in North America in "winter 2007."
